Fundraising, Roster, and Scouting Update   Leave a comment

It’s been a bit since I’ve updated the blog, so here is a recap of what’s happened in the past two weeks or so.

The Indiegogo campaign we launched on August 16th has been great in terms of increasing awareness of the club and its mission.  Although we are behind pace on meeting our goal at the moment ($215 raised to date), there is a LOT of time left for supporters to come on board and help advance the cause.  The campaign can be found here.  Thank you to all who have shared our message with your friends and contributed to helping make this club a place where the soccer-playing women of Milwaukee can develop and show their skills.

Most of the rosters for NCAA and NAIA teams have been posted.  To date, we have 54 players that we will be following over the course of the college soccer season, with several more to be added once those rosters are finalized.  A nice development is the number of Milwaukee Public Schools graduates that are on the roster of Alverno College (an all-women’s school in Milwaukee).  Two freshmen plus a transfer student from Mount Mary (Milwaukee’s other all-women’s college) join three returning players for the 2012 season.  In total, players on our radar come from schools as near as UW-Milwaukee, Cardinal Stritch, and Milwaukee School of Engineering and as far as Louisville, Grambling, and Tennessee-Martin.

With the pool more or less set, the scouting schedule is being worked out.  I plan to be at games on Monday (Wisconsin Lutheran), Tuesday (Alverno), and Saturday (Mount Mary) of next week in addition to following games via the Internet over the holiday weekend.  Divisions II and III will begin action this weekend and I am hopeful our local players come out of the gate ablaze.
