What We Need   1 comment

May 1st is the deadline for us to register our team with Wisconsin Soccer Leagues for the 2013 Women’s Premier League season.  That said, a number of things need to happen in the next few weeks.  As I mentioned on Twitter earlier this week, a local attorney I know is willing to do the state and federal legal paperwork for us to be set up as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.  I had originally planned to do all of that on my own with some guidance from those with past experience, but it is probably better to leave something that can be so fraught with landmines to a professional, which means that I did not factor in that cost in the start-up funds from the Indiegogo campaign.  Rather than run another campaign to raise this being it’s a one-off expense and the time frame is somewhat short, I have put a PayPal donation button in the sidebar (it’s a good idea anyhow for the future).  If you feel moved, help us out.

On to other needs.  Some of these are subject to change as I have not received the full rules/regulations for the Women’s Premier League from Wisconsin Soccer Leagues yet with regards to roster sizes and coaching qualifications, so what’s listed is an approximation based on previous years.

Players – We are still seeking between 6 and 12 players for this year’s roster.  Our criteria for players can be found here.

Coach – We are looking for a coach with at least a “D” license to oversee training and matches for our WPL team.

Board of Directors – A requirement of 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations and non-stock corporations in the State of Wisconsin.  A minimum of three persons serve on the board and provide oversight for the organization.

Sponsors – Local businesses who would like to help grow the game in Milwaukee can get involved by donating in-kind or on a cash basis in exchange for promotion on the team kit, signage at our home field, or other considerations.
